Winery
The Cantina Girlan was founded in 1923 by 23 vintners congregating at this historic country estate (dating back to the 16th century) in the village of Girlan in the region of Alto Adige. Back then – 90 years ago – the 23 charter members had an annual production of a mere 2,700 hectoliters of wine.
The Cantina Girlan now has 200 wine-grower members, for a total area of 220 hectares of vineyards in the best growing zones of the Oltradige and Bassa Atesina.
The Cantina Girlan has been located in a typical wine-growing estate since 1923.
Behind these hallowed walls and in the network of cellar corridors, you'll find modern oenological technology and optimal conditions for the storage and aging of wine.
We have two main objectives: the first is to revalue historical grape varieties from our area (Schiava, Pinot Bianco, Sauvignon and Pinot Noir), and the other is to create wines with character, using international grape varieties, but still tied in some way to our area; we do this while respecting the time periods dictated by nature.
We cordially invite you to become better-acquainted with us and our wines. In our own tasting rooms, you can taste all of our wines during our business hours, and chat with our experienced experts. We are also happy to conduct tours of our facilities for interested individuals or groups, with a tasting of five select wines at the conclusion. Please contact us to arrange for an appointment!
