This is a new wine from Girlan that represents a prolonged search for the best vineyard site for the production of Pinot Noir. The 1.6-hectare Ganger vineyard (at 360 to 380 meters above sea level) is one of the prized gems of the Mazzon (Mazon in German) subzone. The 2012 Alto Adige Pinot Noir Riserva Mazon Vigna Ganger represents one of the region's most concrete new attempts at specific vineyard designation definition. Alto Adige has a long ways to go in this regard. The wine is absolutely beautiful with an impeccable sense of finesse and depth. It offers more and more the longer you contemplate the bouquet. Wild berry is backed by tar, licorice and red rose. The mouthfeel is super silky and long. This is a lovely wine that is just at the beginning of a long life ahead.

The Girlan 2019 Alto Adige Pinot Noir Riserva Trattmann delivers redcurrant, cherry skin and soft earthy sensations. This wine is very floral in personality with dried rose and violets. It all checks out, especially if you are curious to taste a high-elevation Italian expression of this fragrant Burgundian grape. This wine offers elegance through and through. It ages in oak (barrique and botte) for 12 months. Some 28,000 bottles were made.

The Girlan 2019 Alto Adige Pinot Bianco Riserva Flora shows beautiful aromas that reflect the minerality of calcareous soils and the light spice of aging in large oak casks (with partial malolactic fermentation because Pinot Bianco does not keep its acidity as well as, say, Chardonnay). This wine offers volume and a very pretty, almost creamy texture. The finish is supple and long.

The Girlan 2020 Alto Adige Sauvignon Flora is a blend of fruit from three separate vineyards. The wine is partially aged in stainless steel and in part on the lees in large oak casks. One of these sites is prized for freshness and the other two for aromas and fruitiness. This perfumed wine is linear and tight with bright acidity and energy.

The Girlan 2020 Alto Adige Chardonnay Flora shows plenty of fresh orchard fruit and crisp apple with background spice and crushed stone. The winemaking team works with yeasts and reductive winemaking techniques to give this wine its razor-fresh, food-friendly approach.

Made with fruit from different parcels, the Girlan 2021 Alto Adige Pinot Bianco Platt & Riegl is the estate's mid-range expression of the grape that achieves a fresh, punchy and easy-drinking style. The wine offers a fruity side that is contrasted against a salty side with plenty citrus and honeydew melon. There is a touch of sweet apple on the close.

"Die Kellereigenossenschaft wurde 1923 in einem historischen Bauernhof aus dem 16. Jahrhundert gegründet. Hinter diesen Mauern und in den weit verzweigten Kellergängen verbirgt sich jetzt feinste Technologie. Heute sind es rund 200 Winzerfamilien, die 215 Hektar bewirtschaften. 2006 legte der Kellermeister Gerhard Kofler den Grundstein für die heutige außerordentliche hohe Blauburgunder-Kompetenz mit Lagen um den Trattmannhof bei Mazon, womit Girlan inzwischen in der Champions League der internationalen Weinszene spielt."
