Afterhour Aperitivo!

This year, we launched our very first "Afterhour Aperitivo" – a new event format inviting guests to enjoy warm summer evenings in a relaxed atmosphere in our courtyard.
We had two fantastic evenings filled with fine beats by DJ DIVID, expressive wines, delicious small bites, and guests in an excellent mood.
We were absolutely thrilled to see so many friends and new faces.

Wine Guides 2025 : Countless top awards!

We are delighted to announce that our Trattmann Pinot Noir Riserva 2021 has been honoured with the special “Tastevin” award by Vitae, the renowned wine guide of the Italian Sommelier Association AIS. Only one wine in each region receives this award - so we are all the more proud that our Trattmann Pinot Noir Riserva 2021 has received this special recognition. Moreover, the same wine was awarded the coveted “3 Bicchieri” by the prestigious wine guide Gambero Rosso for the 12th consecutive year. It has also been recognized by other renowned wine guides, including Bibenda (5 Grappoli), Slow Wine, Seminario Veronelli & Falstaff. We are particularly pleased about these great recognitions.

Challenging meteorological conditions, promising quality!

After July continued to be characterized by above-average rainfall, August brought dry and warm weather. This weather condition continued until the beginning of September, before temperatures dropped down significantly in the middle of the month. From this point onwards, the phenolic ripening of all grape varieties progressed very slowly. At the end of September, heavy rainfall set in, which had a negative impact on the harvest of Vernatsch and the late-ripening red varieties. It was not always possible to achieve full ripeness here. On the other hand, this rainfall had a very positive effect on our late harvests Gewürztraminer and Moscato Rosa.

Overall, it has been a challenging year that required a lot of work and effort. Despite the challenges, we look forward with confidence to a high-quality harvest and promising young wines. In terms of quality, the white wines and the Pinot Noir variety, which benefited from the lower harvest volumes, stand out in the 2024 wine year.

News from the vineyard

The 2024 wine year has been a challenging one so far, characterized by a lot of rainfall and moderate temperatures. The weather has demanded a lot of attention and hard work from our winegrowers in the vineyard over the past few months. Recently, we have been all the more pleased with summer temperatures and bright sunshine, which, according to forecasts, is set to continue.
The work in the vineyard is currently very intensive. Excess leaves are removed from the shoots during defoliation to ensure that the grapes get enough sunlight and air. The tops of the vines are pruned. This is also done to allow more light and air circulation into the vineyard. All with the aim of harvesting healthy and ripe grapes in the fall.

Lightweight-glass bottles

Starting with 2024, Cantina Girlan will be greener thanks to a precise and careful choice that will focus even more on that desire to produce wines linked to the land while preserving natural resources and the time dictated by the earth. Starting with the first bottlings of the 2023 vintage, in fact, all of Cantina Girlan's production lines will gradually begin to use 410 gram bottles, decisively reducing CO2 emissions into the environment.
