Cantina Girlan wins the gold medal at the 5th edition of SAKURA - JAPAN WOMEN'S WINE AWARD 2018. It is the largest and most important international wine competition in Japan.
The awarded wine is the Pinot Grigio 2016:
Pinot Grigio is grown on the hillside vineyards of Cornaiano at an altitudes ranging from 450 to 500 m above sea level in well aired vineyards. The area in which they are grown is rich in minerals, the result of ice age sedimentation.
The grapes are picked by hand and placed in small containers to prevent excess pressure on the grapes. Gentle pressing and clarification of the must by natural sedimentation. Fermentation and aging on the lees take place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature.
