Mazon
The Grand Cru of Italian Pinot Noir
Die Lage „Mazon“ liegt auf einem breiten Plateau auf der Ostseite des Etschtals im Süden Südtirols. Auf rund 12 Hektar sind unsere Blauburgunder in Mazon
The cru of "Mazon" is located on a broad plateau on the eastern side of the Adige Valley in the south of Alto Adige. Our Pinot Noir is grown on 12 hectares in Mazon between 310 and 460 meters above sea level. The soils are characterized by loam with a high clay and limestone content.
The mountain ridge of the
Parco naturale Monte Corno delays the morning sunlight and is therefore responsible for the low average solar radiation. In seasonal terms, this delays the thawing of the soil and the start of the growing season. The conditions are particularly favorable in the period before the grape harvest, when the direct radiation is reduced by the morning sun protection on the valley slopes. Surface winds blow with regularity at different times of the day. In particular, the Ora, the warm afternoon wind from Lake Garda, which blows up the Adige Valley from the south, ventilates the vineyards vigorously.
These optimal conditions give our Pinot Noirs an elegant structure and an unmistakably fine tannin. Mazon is considered one of the best Pinot Noir sites in Italy.
