Product information "FLORA Cuvée Cabernet Merlot Riserva - 2015"

Growing area

The grapes for this wine derive partly from Oltradige’s hillside vineyards at an altitude ranging from 450 to 500 m above sea level, in well aired vineyards. The area in which they are grown is rich in minerals, the result of ice age sedimentation. And partly from vineyards located in the Bassa Atesina, with its sandy, warm and deep soils. These components are the basis for this Riserva, consisting of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Merlot.

Winemaking

The grapes are picked by hand and placed in small containers to prevent excess pressure on the grapes. Destemming and slow must fermentation (18-20 days) in stainless steel tanks (gravity-flow). The malolatic fermentation and the aging for 20 months take place in barriques, of which 50% is new. After the final assemblage, the wine is stored for further 8 months in the bottle.

Tasting notes & food matching

Intense ruby red, full and very pleasing to the palate. Light balsamic notes of rosemary and thyme. Certainly an important read wine and particularly suitable for roast meats, game and spicy cheeses.

FLORA Pinot Noir Riserva
FLORA Pinot Noir Riserva

Growing area The grapes for this wine derive from our typical Pinot Noir-growing sites. The carefully selected parcels are particularly suitable due to their geological and microcilmatic characteristic. The vineyards are located at an altitude between 380 and 530 meters a.s.l. and are characterized, on one hand, by Oltradige’s morainic deposits on volcanic porphyry rock, and on the other hand, by Bassa Atesina’s west-facing, loamy limestone soils on the other. Winemaking The grapes are picked by hand and placed in small containers to prevent excess pressure on the grapes. After destemming, the must is filled by gravity into the steel tanks where the alcoholic fermentation takes place (20-22 days). After the malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for 12 months in barriques (70%) and small wooden barrels of 12 hl. (30%). Finally, the wine is stored for 6 months in large oak barrels, and further 6 months in the bottle. Tasting notes & food matching Ruby red color. Characterized by fresh aromas of wild berries and sour cherry. The wine shows much elegance and fruityness with very velvety and delicate tannins with a long lasting finish. Excellent with white meat, roasts as well as grilled fish.
