Description

Product information "FLORA Chardonnay"

Growing area

For this extraordinary wine we choose the best Chardonnay grapes from the hillside vineyards of Oltradige. They grow in different vineyards with an age between 18 and 25 years, at an altitude from 450 to 500 m above sea level. The vines are trained using the Guyot system. The vines grow in glacial moraine soils, based on volcanic porphyry.

Winemaking

The grapes are picked by hand and placed in small containers to prevent excess pressure on the grapes. Gentle whole cluster pressing and clarification of the must by natural sedimentation. Alcoholic fermentation in oak barrels of 12 and 15 hl, followed by malolactic fermentation. The aging takes place on the lees in oak barrells for 12 months and further 6 months in the bottle.

Tasting notes & food matching

An elegant frame and fine consistency, with intense fruity notes. An excellent structure that is flavoursome and mineral, with a persistent palate. We recommend serving this wine with refined dishes, including meats.

MARNA Chardonnay
MARNA Chardonnay

Growing area For this wine we use grapes from selected vineyards, which are situated in the Oltradige at an altitude of 350–450m above sea level. The specific composition of the soil - dominated by poor gravelly and loamy elements rich in limestone - gives the wine its name “Marna”. Winemaking  The grapes are harvested by hand and delivered in small containers. Gentle whole cluster pressing and clarification by natural sedimentation is followed by the alcoholic fermentation, of which 40% takes place in stainless steel tanks and 60% in large oak barrels. The wine ages for 7 months on the fine lees and only a part of it undergoes a malolactic fermentation. Before the wine is released to the market a further bottle ageing takes place. Tasting notes & food matching The grape variety Chardonnay is becoming increasingly important at Cantina Girlan. Poor clayey soils, low yields and gentle vinification bring a lot of freshness, good structure and its unique character of origin into the glass. Regarding food pairing, Marna Chardonnay is highly versatile and accompanies delightfully vegetarian starters, delicate fish dishes, but also white meat. TRATTMANN Pinot Noir Riserva
TRATTMANN Pinot Noir Riserva

Growing areaThe grapes for this wine come from our best-suited and oldest vineyards in Bassa Atesina and Oltradige. These vineyards are particularly suitable due to their microclimatic conditions as well as the age of the vines which they have proven over decades. The main part of the grapes derives from the Eastern side of Bassa Atesina, at 380 - 430 m of altitude where we find deep clay and limestone soils. The second part derives from the oldest vineyards in Oltradige, at 500m with its morainic deposit on volcanic porphyry rock.WinemakingThe grapes are picked by hand and placed in samll containers to prevent excess pressure on the grapes. The grapes - 10% of them is vinified in form of whole clusters - was filled by gravity into the steel tanks for alcoholic fermentation (20-24 days). After the malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for 12 months in barriques and small wooden barrels (12 hl). This is followed by an ageing of 8 months in big wooden barrels (70 hl). Finally, the wine is stored for further 8 months in bottle.Tasting notes & food matchingRuby red color with slight tones of grenadine and an intense and complex bouquet with notes of ripe fruit, cherry and maraschino. The wine presents itself elegant yet rich with a delicate taste and an excellent tannic framework and persistence. Particularly suitable for roast meets, game and spicy cheeses.
