Description

Product information "FLORA Gewürztraminer"

Production area

One third of the grapes chosen for this extraordinary wine come from the hillside vineyards of the cru "Girlan" at an altitude from 450 to 500 m above sea level. They grow in different vineyards with an age between 10 and 15 years. The other two thirds come from the Bassa Atesina - Cortaccia. The combination of mineral-rich gravel and clay soils gives this wine its unique character.

Winemaking

The grapes are picked by hand and placed in small containers to prevent excess pressure on the grapes. Gentle whole cluster pressing and clarification of the must by natural sedimentation. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. Aging on the lees for 8 months in stainless steel tanks without malolatic fermentation.

Tasting notes & food matching

The intense, aromatic bouquet, together with soft, full character needs flavoursome dishes. We recommend serving this wine with shellfish, flavoured cheeses and desserts, such as strudel. Also a good match with spicy dishes and sweet and sour creations with an Asian touch.

Growing area The grapes for this wine are carefully selected, all from the gentle hills of Oltradige, at an altitude of 450 - 530 m a.s.l. The vineyards are partly facing west and partly east. Characteristic here are the morain soils with volcanic porphyry rock and a high stone content, which in combination with the elevated altitudes result in a unique wine. Winemaking The grapes are picked by hand and placed in small containers to prevent excess pressure on the grapes. Gentle whole cluster pressing and clarification of the must by natural sedimentation. The alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The wine is aged for 8 months on the fine lees, partially in stainless steel tanks and partially in small oak barrels, without malolatic fermentation. Tasting notes & food matching The Sauvignon grape varietal has been cultivated in Alto Adige for more than a century. The intense aroma of nettle and elderflower, as well as the delicate smokiness and minerality on the palate are typical for this wine. “Flora Sauvignon” accompanies delightfully different fish dishes, shellfish and white meats. FLORA Cuvée Cabernet Merlot Riserva
FLORA Cuvée Cabernet Merlot Riserva

Growing area The grapes for this wine derive partly from Oltradige’s hillside vineyards at an altitude ranging from 450 to 500 m above sea level, in well aired vineyards. The area in which they are grown is rich in minerals, the result of ice age sedimentation. And partly from vineyards located in the Bassa Atesina, with its sandy, warm and deep soils. These components are the basis for this Riserva, consisting of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Merlot. Winemaking  The grapes are picked by hand and placed in small containers to prevent excess pressure on the grapes. Destemming and slow must fermentation (18-20 days) in stainless steel tanks (gravity-flow). The malolatic fermentation and the aging for 20 months take place in barriques, of which 50% is new. After the final assemblage, the wine is stored for further 8 months in the bottle. Tasting notes & food matching  Intense ruby red, full and very pleasing to the palate. Light balsamic notes of rosemary and thyme. Certainly an important read wine and particularly suitable for roast meats, game and spicy cheeses.
