90 | Chardonnay FLORA 2016

"This is a snappy, crisp and tonic white with the zesty flavors of a cool climate, mountain wine. The 2016 Alto Adige Chardonnay Flora opens to peachy and citrusy flavors that are balanced against toasted almond and chalky brimstone. This is a medium-weight wine that is contoured and fleshy yet also firm and lean at the same time. Some 12,000 bottles were produced. Fruit is harvested by hand and fermented in oak (for both sugar and malolactic fermentations). It ages on the lees for one year."

90+ | Pinot Bianco Riserva FLORA 2016

"The 2016 Alto Adige Pinot Bianco Riserva Flora is a terrific wine that offers great value. This was a classic vintage for Pinot Bianco that shows extra emphasis on the zesty crispness and extreme balance of the variety. Lemon curd is followed by stone fruit, white melon and crushed mineral. Fruit is harvested by hand and fermented in French oak. The wine undergoes partial malolactic fermentation to increase the creaminess and softness of its mid-weight body. It ages on the lees for 12 months in large casks. Only 4,000 bottles were made."

91 | Pinot Noir Riserva Trattamnn 2015

"This was a warm vintage that most certainly left its mark on the delicate Pinot Noir grape. The 2015 Alto Adige Pinot Noir Riserva Trattmann offers an unusual yet highly attractive and interesting bouquet in which the dark berry fruit is framed by light touches of smoke, tar and asphalt. The wine delivers a deep and more succulent sense of ripeness at its core. The alcohol is recorded at 14.5%, and you do indeed taste it. This wine ages in barrique for 12 months before going into botte grande to continue its evolution for an additional eight months. Fruit comes from the prized Mazzon subzone, and a small percentage is sourced from Pinzon, not far from Mazzon but with slightly warmer average temperatures. Some 30,000 bottles were made."

93 | Pinot Noir Riserva Ganger 2014

"This is a precious wine with only 1,917 750-milliliter bottles and 120 magnums made. They are all packaged in heavy glass bottles inside wooden boxes. The 2014 Alto Adige Pinot Noir Riserva Mazon Vigna Ganger is a wine of pedigree and grace. The bouquet presents a medley of dark berry aromas that are infused with smoke, tar and black licorice. Keeping in line with the grape (and the cooler vintage), the wine offers mid-weight density and steady persistence. I can definitely say that this vintage is a bit shorter compared to the spectacular 2012 edition. The 2014 vintage also delivers a pretty note of cherry sweetness on the finish. The wine sees partial stem inclusion and is fermented in stainless steel for 20 days. It does malolactic fermentation in barrique and is later aged in oak for 20 months. Fruit is sourced from Mazzon, the area most associated with quality Pinot Nero grapes within the Alto Adige appellation. The Ganger vineyard is located from 360 to 380 meters above sea level with limestone soils at the surface and deep clay deposits below that topsoil."
